Launched in 2015 by Isle of Wight charity Independent Arts, the Creative Café is a regular group for older people providing a different and exciting creative activity along with an opportunity to socialise, and learn something new every week.
The aim of the Creative Café is to improve health and wellbeing by facilitating access to highly creative activities including iPads, digital photography, creative writing, visual art and crafts. It provides a supportive and welcoming environment for older people, who can come together every week, make new friends and express themselves through creative activity.
Participants at the Creative Café are encouraged to take ownership of the project by shaping up and planning the timetable of activities, and supporting new members to become established within the group. Participants will also have the opportunity to become volunteers on the project, contribute to the Creative Cafe blog, and support other participants.
Sessions are delivered weekly at Newport Methodist Church Hall, Quay Street, Newport every Monday 10am – 12 noon. Sessions are FREE to attend!
